“Twist and Shout”, an exhibition of contemporary art by forefront Japanese contemporary artists which I used to assist was a first step for my internship at the Japan Foundation, Bangkok.

The exhibition will introduce for the first time, a major contemporary art show from Japan rooted in Japanese pop culture, inspired by such genre as manga and anime, and placing a special focus on new trends that have emerged in the Japanese subculture in recent years.
“Twist and Shout” is the major survey of the art movement that acutely reflects various aspects of the Japanese contemporary society and the psyche of the people. Powerful statements and insights are made through paintings, installations, video art, sculpture, photography, and even a six foot-high moving robot and an entourage of forty little ones, the exhibition represents a dynamic exploration of the visual arts subculture, with imaginative elements and subliminal messages relevant to society and history. The show will contain some forty works by 17 Japanese artists.
“Twist and Shout” exhibition is part of the Mekong-Japan Exchange year 2009. The exhibition will be on view from 19 November 2009 to 10 January 2010, at Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, Pathumwan Junction. The BACC is open daily ,10am – 9pm, Mondays closed. The entry is free.

Thank you so much for my old classmates!!
Guangzhou, city where is close to Hong Kong, is one of growing up cities in China. Really nice and bad points of it had been found during my visit here. The fact is found that this city is not a kind of historical site as we have reminded.
I had a great time with good people and really want to keep in touch with their mentality. My first visit to Guangzhou was in 2005 but I felt so scared with something from local people and did not know what the cause was. I decided to visit here again to how it has been changed. Now I agree that China is definitely growing up so fast and it will be in positive way.
It is my homework for next-month visit.
Anyway, thank you so much for my old classmates!! and their friends. You, guys make my trip be so colorful. See you again so soon!!
Takahiro Hayakawa was born in 1979, having received many national and international awards at the world-renowned competitions, such as, “ARS ELECTRONICA 2005″ “SIGGRAPH 2008 and 2009” “2004 Asia Digital Art Award“etc. He is a new blood generation of animation filmmaking.
His works are a combination of hand-drawn animation and computer-based generative animation in the form of organic expression. In his view “animation” and “animism” are both originated from “anima” and these three aforementioned wordes became his keywords to create animation works, based on a motif of Asian countries including Japan which are entitled, “the world of spirit”.

Thanks for coming our event!! Did you enjoy Private Lesson?
The event which I have supported is totally excellent and right now it becomes very hot topic about Thailand in Japan.
Urk’s lighting is really matched with Miki’s songs as well as others in LiquidRoom Ebisu, Japan. I should do this kind of small event more and more to get Japanese know more about lovely Thailand!!

It’s a first MV work of Mr.Koonklung Kouputhai (Klung) from B.O.R.E.D. Design for Japanese. As having an idea to change band’s image, LITE wants to try a graphic work, represented in new EP “turns red” which is in accordance with their concept of “turns”. Even we have super less time to work on it, we’ve tried our best.
Hope you like it.

LITE will release new EP in Japan and U.K. on 7th October 2009.
Three new EP tracks called “Turns Red” will be released on October 7th, recording with ex-Jawbox frontman J Robbins in Baltimore during LITE’s first US tour with Mike Watt together with the Missing Men on May. The track listing is:
1. The Sun Sank
2. Tomato
3. Vermillion
All artworks for LITE’s EP were producted by Mr.Koonklung Kouputhai (or knowned as Klung) from B.O.R.E.D. Design. The CD was designed in see-through plastic style,so the design is variable itself,if you put CD in different positions. When the three (two of see-through plastics artworks and CD plate) are combined,it will be complete work.
With quite complex concept, only keywords: audio-form and when nature turns red, it becomes autumn can describe the design.

This is my 4th time in visiting Singapore and it seems nothing fun this time because of my ton of tasks but really fantastic Singapore Art Museum gave me an impression. Alternate Friday night people can enjoy indie music bands and movies, showned in front of the museum because here the government pays pretty much attention to arts. Community Art also plays important role in Singapore but it is still not really good at social inclusion. Singapore is trying to present its country not just a nice place to stay,all-purposed infrastructures, etc. I can feel more than what I was thinking about Singapore from reading.
This trip makes me to think about community art, social inclusion and problems and much more.
I will have an exhibition with Japanese Media Artist there soon..
