Accomplished! International Collaborated Academic Forum

I finished having speech on “Community reconstruction through cultural identity regeneration; tourism and creativities on art and culture in Phuket, Thailand” of The 8^th Academic Forum “Empowering Urban Culture and Creativity; Art, PubliCITY and Transformation” by Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Chulalongkorn University And Urban Research Plaza/ Urban Culture Research Center, Osaka City University on March 9 – 10, 2010

It has been quite long that I do not do any activity in Phuket but I got a chance to do a presentation and received research grant, so I started art-based community development program again and several new things were found in the community. I decided to focus on one point on Talang Road and Soi Rommanee where are as the center of arts in local community.
I operated on workshop at Satree Phuket School and really hope that it will be wider and more communication between schools and Phuket provincial administration organization in the near future.
My speech on academic forum is on 9th at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok and then I will fly to Europe to get more inspiration of arts and community development.

High school students an untouched experience by launching academic graphic design workshop; To Feel the Definition of “Designing”, comprising of speech session and workshop by well-known graphic designer/visual artist, named Koonklung Kouputhai (Director of B.O.R.E.D Design). The 180mins workshop has been considered to be held on 19^th February 2010 at Satree Phuket School.

Concept
Synchronization style will be presented to students to listen to and sing a song in order to interpret song lyric and naturally express the feeling of the song. This will be recorded by video with the same style as music video shooting and further montage and different people’s faces will be amassed into one music video.

Purpose
To educate students by making music video with simple line synchronization style and let them interpret song lyric with nature of feeling.

Really hope you can get a pride of how great in being Thai is.

An opportunity to explore Canton had come to me again! It was amazing home stay-alike journey in Guangzhou. Unfortunately temperature here was terribly cold but several nice experiences impressed me. Cantonese cuisines, tea and different traditional things are my preference.

Actually I planned to stay in Guangzhou for a month for my next article but the freezing weather forced me to come to Thailand earlier and the difficulty of language as well. In the other hand, it was good meeting with people who belong to Cornell University and Hong Kong University in Hong Kong. It was the first meet but these people treated me a lot and they also tried to speak Japanese with me. That was really nice! Here I ate Japanese food everyday and took haircut which its design style is as same as Japanese.

Next trip to Hong Kong, I want to see what is going on community art and able art there. Hong Kong’s Disneyland and Ocean Park (to see Pandas) are on the list of my plan! See you on May!

My project’s honorary supporter, Mr. Supote Isarasak Na Ayutaya retired from Head of Consul General of Thailand, Osaka on last September. This was really sad news for me because he led me the way to do this project and gave me a lot of supports like the Japan Foundation, Bangkok..

Consequently, I decided to re-write the project’s process and its result in English and do the presentation which belongs to Global COE Program on 9th and 10th March 2010. This will be published into a book in English version, so everyone can read my thesis! You can feel deeply about what I am thinking about and get deep into Phuket.

This time I took a trip to different parts of Taiwan, such as, Taipei, Gao-shung, Tainan and Chipei with my mother. Of course I spent time for National Tainan University of Arts and had a meeting with students of National Taiwan Normal University to keep in touch with arts.
One thing made me surprised that people and youths of almost of all tourism destinations I had visited can speak Japanese very well.
I like this country but I just realize that I have grained 8-kilogram weight more because of its cuisines. Not too soon for next re-visit, but see you next year for sure!

“Twist and Shout”, an exhibition of contemporary art by forefront Japanese contemporary artists which I used to assist was a first step for my internship at the Japan Foundation, Bangkok.

The exhibition will introduce for the first time, a major contemporary art show from Japan rooted in Japanese pop culture, inspired by such genre as manga and anime, and placing a special focus on new trends that have emerged in the Japanese subculture in recent years.

“Twist and Shout” is the major survey of the art movement that acutely reflects various aspects of the Japanese contemporary society and the psyche of the people. Powerful statements and insights are made through paintings, installations, video art, sculpture, photography, and even a six foot-high moving robot and an entourage of forty little ones, the exhibition represents a dynamic exploration of the visual arts subculture, with imaginative elements and subliminal messages relevant to society and history. The show will contain some forty works by 17 Japanese artists.

“Twist and Shout” exhibition is part of the Mekong-Japan Exchange year 2009. The exhibition will be on view from 19 November 2009 to 10 January 2010, at Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, Pathumwan Junction. The BACC is open daily ,10am – 9pm, Mondays closed. The entry is free.
